How this site is built and served.
Cloudflare DNS
akinozer.com is registered at Cloudflare Registrar, and Cloudflare's nameservers serve its DNS.
akinozer.com is attached to the Worker as a Custom Domain: Cloudflare created the DNS record that points the domain at the Worker.
A redirect rule sends www.akinozer.com to akinozer.com with a permanent redirect (301) that keeps the path and the query.
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics through its automatic setup, and Web Analytics is cookieless: it uses no cookies or other client-side state.
Worker with static assets
One Cloudflare Worker serves the site. Astro builds every page and feed into a static file when the site is built.
Cloudflare serves a file without running the Worker's code, except the pages and feeds that show what the cron fetched.
For those, the Worker runs first: on each request it reads Workers KV and writes what it holds into the built file before sending it:
Cron Trigger
A Cron Trigger runs the Worker's scheduled handler. Each run syncs one source, at these minutes of every hour, in UTC:
Its schedule: 2,17,32,47 * * * *
- minute 2: Medium @ozer_akin
- minute 17: Hepapi blog, site search
- minute 32: Hepapi blog, author feed
- minute 47: GitHub, cc-devops-skills
Workers KV
Each run writes what it fetched to Workers KV, with the time and the result of the sync, and a source that fails keeps its last good data. /status shows each source's last sync.
Feeds
The posts come from exactly two blogs: Medium @ozer_akin, and his posts on the Hepapi blog, read from its site search, or from his author feed there when the search fails. GitHub's API gives the stars and forks of cc-devops-skills. These are the only addresses the cron fetches:
- Medium @ozer_akin: https://medium.com/feed/@ozer_akin
- Hepapi blog, site search: https://hepapi.com/_hcms/search?term=Akin%20Ozer&type=BLOG_POST&limit=100&offset=0
- Hepapi blog, author feed: https://hepapi.com/blog/author/ak%C4%B1n-%C3%B6zer/rss.xml
- GitHub, cc-devops-skills: https://api.github.com/repos/akin-ozer/cc-devops-skills
Workers Builds
Workers Builds builds the site from its Git repository on every push to its production branch, main, and deploys it only when the build and its checks pass.
A build hands the site its commit, its branch and its build id. /status shows them with the time the build started, and the Worker version that answers with the time that version was created.
